Durham Christian High School is located in Durham region. A 40 minute drive east of Toronto. The school is found in a natural environment with nearly 13 acres of green space including a protected greenbelt with a creek. Students graduate with an Ontario Secondary School Diploma and, for the successful completion of our specific and unique core requirements, the Durham Christian High School Diploma

As Christians, it is our responsibility to become effective in cross-cultural interactions.  We are mandated to provide the gift of hospitality to the strangers in our midst.  International students in our school provide a wonderful opportunity for cross-cultural understanding to develop so that we can become effective co-workers in bringing God's redemptive story to those who have not heard it.

Admission Criteria

Durham Christian High School is looking for serious Christian students who are interested in studying for their high school diploma with a Christian faith as the foundation for their study.   Students are invited to apply for 9th grade or any grade thereafter.

Students Must Demonstrate:

  • Academic ability and interest
  • Self discipline
  • Ability to establish priorities and carry them through
  • Emotional maturity needed to adjust to a new language and culture
  • Willingness to abide by the school code and Canadian laws.

Admission Deadlines

Fall Semester - June 1
Winter Semester - October 1

A minimum of three months should be allowed for document processing before an anticipated arrival date. Students should plan to arrive at least one week before the actual start of classes. Applicants for fall semester should plan to have all documents in our office by June 1. Applicants for spring semester should have all documents in our office by October 1. As a new semester approaches, every effort will be made to process applications as quickly as possible. Failure to submit all the required documents will delay the processing of the application.

Admission Process

1. Review Durham Christian's Mission, Vision and Policies to ensure that you and your family can agree with them and desire to learn at Durham
2.

Submit the required documents:
- Application Form
- Copy of report cards from the past two years. (Translated into English)
- $500 non-refundable deposit on tuition

3. Student and parent interview with Durham designated admission person.
4. An admission decision will be based on demonstrated academic preparation and readiness to participate in the Durham community. The decision will be communicated via letter
5. The principal will determine whether or not the student requires English as a Second Language training. There is a $2500 fee per ESL course per study
6. Upon acceptance to Durham Christian High School, full tuition must be paid prior to enrolment into classes.
   
 

Home Stay

We recommend that International students live with an English speaking family since this helps facilitate their learning of the English language. International students do have the option of living with family or friends in the area. We are prepared to assist you in finding home stay placements.
