Cooperative education provides students with an exciting opportunity to broaden their awareness of career possibilities and to provide them with a better understanding of a particular job.  Students are placed with employers in areas that the student is considering for their future vocation and has been a great help in refining their thinking about their future.   Durham students have been placed in a wide variety of occupations including:

• Accounting firm as an accounting practitioner
• General Motors in the engineering department
• Elementary schools as a teacher assistant
• Carpentry with custom home builder.
• Other trades including automotive and electrical.
• Dental office as a dental assistant.
• Interior decorating firm.
• Nursing in a local hospital.
  
• An introduction to social work through work with Big Sisters or Big Brothers.
